I’m here to share a topic that’s close to my heart: the journey of my mum as she tries to get her passion project, Vashti Aromas, off the ground. Spoiler alert: it’s not all sunshine and soy wax melts!
First off, I want to apologise for this blog being a bit late. I’ve been under the weather and off school for a couple of days, but I’m back at it now! Fingers crossed that Wednesday’s blog will be right on schedule.
The Struggle is Real
If you’ve ever tried to promote a small business, you know it can feel like you’re shouting into a void. My mum’s been pouring her heart (and a fair bit of wax) into her beautiful soy wax melts, but getting the word out is proving to be quite the challenge.
Despite her best efforts, mum has found that simply having a lovely website isn’t enough. She’s tried Facebook ads, thinking it would be a straightforward way to reach potential customers. Unfortunately, what she’s encountered has been more frustrating than fruitful. It’s a bit like trying to sell ice to Eskimos, but instead of ice, you’re trying to sell gorgeous wax melts to folks who don’t know they need them yet! She also felt like she was paying for promoting just to attract scammer after scammer!
